hi all

please tell me how achieve drill through from Analysis Studio to Report Studio,
From Analysis Studio i want open a report in Report Studio,
also is it possible pass a parmaeter from analysis studio and detailed report i have to open in report studio

in analysis studio i am opening my CUBE which developed in powerplay transformer 7.3,
from this i want to drill through to report studio

Hi,

First create your target report in Report Studio.  Add a filter with a parameter for each value you want to pass in.  Then save the report.

Next, in Cognos Connection, go to Tools/Drill Through Definitions, select the package for your cube, and add a drillthrough pointing at the report you saved.  For each parameter you added to the report, you can map a relevant level from the cube package.

Finally, launch Analysis Studio and create your analysis using the cube package.  Select a row/column/cell, and press the "Go To" button on the toolbar...

Well it sounds simple and I have been seeing the same thing around at Support.cognos.com or other forums.
I am no dummy in terms of Cognos tools (been working with from 2000).
In cognos 8 and above the drill through functionality has been made more complicated.

In older days, it was so easy to setup a drill thru in Transformer and IWR reports.
It was easy to see what parameters being passed between Cube and IWR.
Now it has become an enigma for me how to setup a drill thru from ANANLYSIS STUDIO to Report studio.


I have a cube and a report from the same FM Package.

I just want a simple drill thru from one dimension only.  (lets start simple).   Say Authorizer, a unique identifier and first name and last name displayed in the ananlysis studio.  Behind the scene in Transformer this dimension is having Unique identifier as category code.

In the report studio I have created an optional prompt for this like auth_id  = ?auth_id?

In the cognos connection I set up the drill thru definition to  [ComptrialCubesource].[Authorizer].[Authorizer].[Authorizer1].[Authorizer - Category Code]

Why the heck it is not working and also how do I know what is being passed to the parameter named auth_id?

For sure Cognos dropped emphasis on this cool feature of drill thru.

If drill thru between AS and RS is so complicated, then forget about setting it against Metric studio etc...
