Filtering performance in OLAP (PowerCube) and DMR
« on: 24 Aug 2011 07:24:16 am »
Hello,

I have several reports wich has more than 50 filters each.
My datasource is DB2. I'm wondering is it a good idea to put everything from my reporting DB2 to PowerCube?
The exact question is will the performance for filling the prompts and afterwards filltering the data be better in PowerCube?

Let's assume that I won't user drill up/down functionallity.
If I use it the speed will be definitely better in the PowerCube.

I read something in one blog: http://ykud.com/blog/cognos/dmrs-pros-and-cons -
2) Dimension element Hide toggles full table scan

Is this about my case?

Thanks and Regards,
Stancho

It actually depends on Cognos version and report design.

I was originally writing about 8.3 and hide dimension element functionality in Analysis studio.
