Eclipse Vis vis Netbeans
« on: 19 Sep 2005 10:58:01 am »
Folks

I am debating which IDE to use among the above two for ReportNet SDK development.

It appears that experience with Eclipse carries more weight on your resume. Also IBM seems to have done a much better job backing up this IDE than Sun.

I am inclined to move to Eclipse though I used Netbeans in the past and have fond memories of it.

Any thoughts /comments/URLs.

Thanks
NKT

Initially I've made some folks switch their SDK training classes from Eclipse to NetBeans because it was so much easier to set up. Since than, I've became a total Eclipse convert, especially after getting MyEclipse IDE add on. Eclipse seems to be more stable and far lighter than NetBeans.

But hey, NB 5.0 is just around the corner, so who knows?

I like Netbeans simply because it is lighter weight and easier to use out of the gate.  However, eclipse has the bigger user community and seams more robust.  I would say it depends on if you value space or size vs. support and tools.
