# of items in a legend

Does anyone know how many items can be displayed in a bar chart legend?  From what I can see, only 20 are displayed followed by 3 successive arrows.  Is there a way to increase the number?

in 8.3 you can have them all in the bottom.
earlier versions will truncate if they don't fit in the chart space...
