model and datasource

hi we have a datasource and have a reporting environment creating on this and 2 cubes. If i want to do some extra specific reporting  which i am having trouble in the current model. Is it common for anorther model for letr say the specific reporting problem?  Create a model for this particular report requirement and use this to source my reporting
