Problem with filter and crosstab

I have a problem with filter and crosstab,

when I use a filter in on crosstab, appear an error:

"This query contains set aggregation. Detail of summary filters should not be applied"

and  not le me use a filter,
why?

Is this ReportNet or Cognos 8?

Sounds a lot to me like Cognos 8 - with the report written using a dimensional package.  What filter do you wish to apply?  Could it be done with a slicer?
