Overall Cognos application monitoring

hey guys

Any idea how does one overall monitor the Cognos appliaction ,to be more precise I wanna know:

1.monitor that the Cognos server is working fine.
2.monitor that the database connectivity is fine.
 3. average time taken by a generated query to get executed, as in where can we check this log...

If anyone knows this kindly help me and  if any documentation available on this which I can study.
