Writing to XSTAGEFACT and calling stored procedure from external system(java-ap)

Hi.
I want to write some data to a staging-table and then trigger a stored procedure that starts an import of this data into Cognos from an Java-application.

I have spent a lot of time searching for information, but i cant really find anything to get me started on this.

Do I need the Cognos SDK to do this? Can I use the URL-interface?

Any help or examples on how to do this are appreciated.
