Cognos 10.2.1 > Cognos 10.2.2 upgrade DM question
« on: 12 Aug 2015 03:40:15 am »
Hi all, since Data Manager is not longer release for the new version 10.2.2 I was asked to install 10.2.1 but this creates another config on the server, usually you get a extra option for data manager... Has anyone managed to sort this out? Will the ports need to be different for each config..?

Hi,

You can't install 10.2.1 components into a 10.2.2 instance, so if you have Data Manager 10.2.1 you need to install it in a separate location alongside your BI instance. It will have its own configuration - exactly as you show here. What issues is this causing you?

Cheers!

MF.

My questions do I have to configure the DM separately, and how will this effect the ports? do they need to match up or will it cause a conflict?

I ended up setting up another dev server to test this, I can confirm the port must match the main config and also there is no conflict in the services...

Hi Yizi, did you managed to get the data movement task working with the way you configured? I've tried to do the same thing but the data movement task stuck in Pending state. Any advice on how you've setup the Cognos Configuration?

Hey Alison.

I succeded in installing a DM 10.2.1 dispatcher in a 10.2.2 environment.

Data Movement Service is working as well.

Basically, all you have to do is install the Application Tier (10.2.1) in the same location of Data Manager Server (10.2.1), then register this dispatcher at the 10.2.2 Content Manager/Store.

If you need more details, I'd be glad to build a complete post, but in the other topic:
Data Movement Service in 10.2.2

Let me know if you're still interested.

Catch you on the flipside.
