Does anyone have any experience in using Planning with multi-lingual text, specifically when exporting to table format for reporting.

We have just this requirement for names and free-text, and have noticed that although the multi-lingual accented characters (é, í, á etc) are shown correctly in Contributor, whenever we publish to a table only layout (using SQL Server 2012 with Latin1_General_CI_AS collation, the server default and the same for both the planning database and the table-only target) these characters get transformed into other extended characters such as Ú, Ó,¯ etc. The transformations do appear to be consistent, for instance é always gets transformed into Ú etc, but the sheer volume of individual changes makes it impractical to fix after the fact.

Has anyone come across this problem before? I've tried forcing different collations on the database, and manually adjusting the target columns to NVARCHAR(), but this always seems to happen.

TIA.

Seems to be a 'feature' of the planning/contributor tool.

We managed to work around this by including the multilingual text in a supplementary database and then linking to that from within the Framework Manager model. Far from ideal, and does mean some additional ETL work, but it allows us to include the text without losing formatting.
