Unable to log on to Cognos, using Active Directory for security

how does cognos work with Active directory for user security and administration?

what special steps are required within cognos administration to enable/disable the users to gain access to cognos content?

In cognos administration, go to your AD namespace and find the user.  To the right of their name is an icon to 'create profile'.  I think that may be what you are looking for.
