Unable to change display type

When I have a widget that contains a measure, I can change the display type to bar chart, column chart etc.

If I drag a widget that has a custom measure, for example a calculation such as "count (distinct emplid)", then the only display type I have is "table", I cannot have a chart. I tried changing the "aggregate function" and "rollup aggregate function" but nothing seems to do it. Any thoughts?
