Data Change Trigger in Event Studio?

Does anyone have a step-by-step process by which you set up an email task in Event Studio based on a single field change?  Our HR department wants an email sent when an employee, either returning from leave or new, has their status changed to "A" (active) from either "T" (temporary leave) or 'NONE' (new employee).  I have ATTEMPTED to set this up in event studio to just email me so far, but I haven't gotten any emails.

Sorry - I JUST saw your response.  Is there a visual guide to doing this instead of just verbiage?  I'm really new to this, and this might work, but I've got to see some pictures to get it in my brain.
