I got this error as well 'bmtui2 has stopped working' from Microsoft Windows as a Framework Manager model froze (on our Production 8.4 instance).

I tried to figure out what the 'bmtui2' is doing and why it 'stopped working' but didn't find much.

Can anybody shed any light on the 'bmtui2' and why it would stop working?

THANKS,
kado

On IBM support site they tell about the problem if Metric Designer and FM are installed on the same computer. They write that installing Metric Designer on a different path should help on the problem, but I have not get it to work.

Hi
Check your Database Connection once and another thing is Configure your Cognos Content store...then we can identify what the error is Exactly...

-delete your csk, encryptkeypair and signkeypair folders.
-Open your cognos configuration, save it again
-Try to open cognos

It should work

Hi,

i talked to the ibm support and we got this solution:

control panel --> system --> advanced system settings --> performance --> settings --> data execution prevention

- turn on the Data Execution Prevention for essential windows programs and services only
OR
- turn on DEP for all programs and services except those u select (here add bmt.exe)

Cognos 10 runs on a "windows server 2008 R2 standard" machine and works fine now  ;D
