Title: Restoring content store from database.....

Hey guys,

Whenever I restore cognos connection, i usually do it by importing a deployment zip into the empty database. But say i've got no deployment zip but have the database backup, has anyone been able to restore a working cognos connection from that? Whenever i do it, it's always results in a blank cognos connection.

So i've figured, if ur cognos connection is screwed and you have no deployment ZIP, then the db backup won't help, is this true?

not sure about restoring Cognos Connection, but when we upgraded from Cognos 8.1 to 8.2 to 8.3 to 8.4 to 8.4.1 now, we have always used the database directly without reimporting content after each upgrade.

We also did a backup/restore from 8.3 content store DB to 8.4.1 and everything was basically OK.  Had a few hiccups but for the most part it was worth it.  Our content store is very large and doing an export/import would've taken over a week (I tried it in Dev to see).
