Title: Report/Dashboard Formatting Standards
Post by: CognosWade on 09 Sep 2010 04:13:38 PM
All I am curious if any of you have any formatting standards for dashboards and reports that you could point me to or share?  We are looking to develop standards for font size, color, chart types, formatting, color palette, etc.  I would appreciate any assistance you could give.

Thanks.

Hi,

While IBM doesn't lay down specific guidelines you may find the link below of interest

Alternatively, have a look at some of the other documents in the report design section of the proven practises documents on the IBM support site.

It would also be worthwhile talking to your organisation to understand if they have a corporate style i.e. fonts, colours, log's etc and perhaps mimicking that in your reporting through the use of standard templates.

Enforcing standards, in Framework Manager, such as decimal precision for a given data item is also worth the effort in the long run.  It takes a little longer to set up your model but will provide you with a consistent approach.

Kind Regards
