Hi,
When the Cognos server reboots, the Cognos 8 service does not start automatically despite being set to do so. I have tried the following and had no success (suggested by IBM support):
1. Service account permissions correct.
2. Ensured DEP is enabled for all programmes.
3. Renamed one of the Cogstartup_timestamp.xml files to cogstartup.xml and redone the configuration
4. Deleted the contents of csk, encryptkeypair, signkeypair and also delete caSerial file and then restarted the configuration
5. Checked issue with Anti-virus disabled
6. Checked issue with Windows Firewall disabled.
Writing a batch file to start the services once the server has rebooted is not an option.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Hi,
Can you see what is causing the service to fail to start? If you look in cogserver.log, is there anything in there that can point you in the right direction?
If I had to guess, I'd imagine that the C8 service is trying to start before the database hosting the Content Store has started up. If this is the case, you could try going in to the properties of the Cognos 8 service (in the Windows Services console), and on the Recovery tab, set the action on First Failure and Second Failure to restart the service.

Hi, still i am facing problem of auto start, after placed first & second failures as: restart the service. i mention restart service after: 2min.
each & every time i am starting cognos services manually when i reboot my system.
Can any one help me plz.
