Title: Automatic Netting of Accounts in Controller 8.3
Post by: LAB on 09 Nov 2010 05:01:57 PM
Controller 8.3

I am trying to find an automatic solution to net assets and liabilities together with single resulting balance - example: $1000 asset on one company / $500 liability on another company

Want to eliminate $500 liability against the $1000 asset leaving $500 net asset on consolidated (and $0 liability)

Have tried to do it with Automatic Intercompany process but so far have been unsuccessful.  Any good thoughts or ideas are much appreciated.

Hello,

that should be possible similiar to the intercompany balances (receivables/liabilieties) consolidation. When you add a new rule and then enter the accounts. The difference account should be a part of the balance sheet.

Best regards

Thanks for the reply.

I had been trying the intercompany accounts functionality with all sorts of combinations of +/- and I/C Diff accounts but did not have all the accounts correct in the account structure.  When I finally went back to the account structure and fixed the underlying accounts, it all worked.

I guess that account structure is pretty important after all!
