Title: Migrate Powerplay Reports/Cubes to Cognos 8.4.1

Anyone

I have an established Powerplay 7 series that I want to migrate to 8.4.1.

I can easily define the Powercubes built by Transformer (7.1.320. 0-0) as data sources in 8.4.1 and open PowerPlay Studio sucessfully to create new reports.

I also want to take any reports (.ppx) that were created in upfront (the old series 7 version of Powerplay) and migrate them into 8.4 as PowerPlay Studio report so that I do not have to rewrite the reports.

The IBM website does not give concise information about migrating from IBM Cognos Series 7 PRE version 3 straight into 8.4.1 PowerPlay Studio.


Has anyone performed such a migration using the batch migration tool?

There is a utility called 'Upgrade Manager' which migrates Powerplay Web reports to Powerplay Studio.

If you are still looking for this answer, you will have to upgrade your .ppx reports to 7.4.  After that, you can use upgrade manager which will convert the .ppx reports into a zip file which can then be converted into Powerplay Studio reports.
