Hi
just trying to find out some information as it relates to bringing cognos content to the blackberry users for viewing and drill down. Is the cognos gomobile application/server required for cognos content on the black berry. if so is there a way to bring some of the cognos reports/dashboards/Kpi etc to the blackberry in a suer friendly manner.
I was speaking with a colleague who have had cognos in there organization for some time and asked and he mentioned they have only developed 1 report for the blackberry users. Does reports have to be specifically built for blackberry's or other mobile devices with certain formatting etc.
Any one with information with creating blackberry content in cognos please provide links etc.

Hi,
Yes - Blackberry devices can be used to consume Cognos 8 content. You will need to download the GO! Mobile app onto each blackberry, but once this has been done, normal BI content can be consumed without it needing to be re-authored (or authored specifically for mobile).
The C8 version supports drill-through definitions, and will also issue prompts for reports where required, but does not allow drill-down and drill-up. The Cognos 10 Mobile client does support drill-down and drill-up though.

Hi
Thanks for the feedback. Do You also need to purchase the cognos gomobile server for this to happen?
I was speaking to a sales rep who said you need the cognos gomobile server and then the end user licenses and the prices seem steep.
Does ver 10 offer any more mobile functionality without having to purchase the gomobile server, end user licenses(i guess the blackberry apps),etc

You will need the IBM Cognos 8 GO! Mobile install for your C8 server, yes. Each mobile user is classed as a consumer, so will require a consumer license (but if they are already C8 consumers there should be no extra license implications for them to use GO! Mobile as far as I am aware).
For Cognos 10, the branding has changed slightly (the GO! branding has been dropped) and there are a few extra features and more mobile platforms supported (such as iPhone/iPad) but the licensing is the same as far as I know.
The people with full knowledge in terms of licensing and costs etc are the IBM account managers (reps), so whatever your rep says should be accurate.
Cheers!
