Title: Open elist in Excel
Post by: StuartS on 29 Mar 2011 03:07:22 AM
Hello

With 8.4.0  on the screen in Internet Explorer when you open a model I am provided with an option of opening an elist in Excel by default.  Is there any way of disabling this and removing the icon?

Through experimentation I can see that you can effectively disable this by deselecting the relevant addin in Excel, but in this scenario you still have the Excel icon.

Thankyou

Stuart

Hi Stuart,

I think there was a *cough* undocumented feature *cough* that was redefined as expected functionality.  According to https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21347930 (which only explicitly mentions 8.3) you'll get that on any machine which has Excel installed whether it has the Excel add-in or not.

If you never ever want it I you could maybe find the little excel icon in /webcontent and replace it with a 1x1 pixel white image, but then you won't have it available for other applications you might want it in.  Also, this might break things (but seems worth a try).

A cunning suggestion.  Ill give it a try and let you know.

Thanks
