All -
Is it possible to force an end date for a schedule, ideally for users within a certain Group/Role? I would like to make it so schedules cannot be set with no end date, hopefully being able to set the maximum end date to begin date + 6 months.
Some background information: Our users have a tendency to set up a schedule to run indefinitely, allowing it to continue running well after their use for it has expired. As there is no good built in functionality to manage schedules en mass, I was hoping to find a way to force the user to actively manage the schedule on their own. It would be great it this could apply to a certain Group/Role so that I could allow Super Users the power to set up a schedule with no end date.
Thanks.

Hi there
I know that this is actually an IBM Cognos enhancement.
There is no means to disable the end date in a schedule. In our organisation it came down to training and policy control. We implemented a short "How to" training session on scheduling which took an hour to complete with a take away document. This alleviated a lot of problems. We've also been pro active in identifying duplication of scheduled reports and running them early in the morning and providing a one central location for access of the output for all teams using these reports within the Cognos portal as well as within Microsoft Sharepoint.
There are ways and means to achieve anything as long as you look beyond the limitations imposed by software.
Cheers
