Hi,
Anyone else using 64bit of cognos 8.4 or 8.4.1 ?
Want to find out if you face the same problem as i am, when i run the exact identical reports on a 32bit cognos, the report be generated within mins. uda files created just around 100mb
But when i run the exact same report on a 64bit cognos, it takes forever to process and the uda files just keep growing until hundred over gb.
Anyone can give some advice why is this happening? thanks in advance.
regards
alexlow
The UDA reference seems to imply there are issues with access to the underlying data source(s). What database/databases/cube/cubes are being used, and how are they being addressed? The report service and interactive report service are still 32 bit components even in a 64 bit install of Cognos 8, and you still need to use the 32-bit client libraries to address relational sources such as Oracle. Can you give more details about your data sources and how the access has been defined?
Regards,
MF.
Hi MFGF,
I am trying to understand the use of cognos 64 bit. Based on your below comment , ibm says 64 bit improves performance , But if it uses 32 bit report service and 32 bit application database like orcale , then the performance would not be improved ? . only web server works fast due to 64 bit. then what is the purpose of having cognos 64 bit. Please clarify. thank you.

Hi MFGF
I'm using MSSQL 2005 through ODBC driver.
I have setup 3 different test environment to try it, all on same spec DL160 Dual Processor , 4GB RAM, not on vm
32bit Cognos 8.4
64bit Cognos 8.4
64bit Cognos 8.4.1
Both version of 64bit facing the same problems, uda will keep growing. Far more worst than running on the 32bit version.
I have escalate to issue to IBM and still waiting for their feedback, but hopefully someone else here have experience using 64bit of cognos can share some informations.
Thanks
