Title: Cognos 10 Dynamic Query Caching
Post by: pkrishnaq on 27 Sep 2011 03:06:59 PM
Has anyone implemented the Cognos 10 Dynamic Query Caching? As we all know, Cognos doesnt do a good job in caching with earlier versions and it always had to go against the database . With the Dynamic Query Caching , this has apparently improved.

Has anyone tried to implement this??

This is part of the new Dynamic Query Mode, and works entirely differently from the old caching in Classic Query Mode. To do this, you will need to make sure your data source(s) are supported by DQM and that you have the relevant JDBC files copied in to the Cognos 10 install structure.  You will also need to configure each data source's JDBC tab to set up JDBC access, then re-publish your package(s) enabling Dynamic Query Mode.

Be aware, too, that DQM enforces stricter rules in your reports than CQM, so you may find some reports which run happily in CQM do not work in DQM.  Lifecycle Manager can be a great asset here - you can use it to test and compare reports running via CQM vs DQM and highlight any areas you need to address.

In terms of the caching available, it is leagues ahead of the old CQM caching.

Regards,

MF.

PS - I am moving this to the Cognos 10 area.

Thanks for the response. Could you please let us know how your install goes?

We are trying to find a good machine to start this project.I shall keep everyone posted.
