do anyone have a good documnet outlining cognos auidting and how to setup and configue. i was working with an analyst today who had a lot of issues setting up.the documnetation is all over the place also.

Have you had a look at the installation & Configuration guide? This has a section on setting up the auditing database for logging and is pretty self explanatory.
