Title: Shutting down Cognos server when content store not available
Post by: jive on 16 Nov 2011 09:03:34 AM
Hi everyone,

We have Cognos 8.4.3 install here, and like most of the people to run quietly we stop/restart our cognos server each morning. My point is if for any reason the database where we put the conent store is not available the pogo log will fill up really fast and have aroun 150Mb.  Is there a way to shutting dwon automaticaly Cognos server when the content store is not available.

Thanks for your help.

May not be the best, but you could run a monitoring utility or a batch file such that when the server with the content store is no longer running, another batch file is called to shut down the services for IBM Cognos.  Then, once the server comes back up, start the services back up and running.  I've not done anything like this, but I do use scripts to stop, start, recycle services, and reboot our servers in our environments.
