Title: Problem when installing Framework Manager at Cognos Express 9.0
Post by: cognoskawi on 06 Jan 2012 01:52:28 AM
Dear all,

I have trouble when installing Framework Manager at cognos express 9.0. Using Firefox version 9.01, an error message appears like this:
A message body writer for Java type, class com.ibm.cognos.express.console.ExpressServletError, and MIME media type, application/octet-stream, was not found

Using IE, it produced an error code 500 (as if that a web service is down or something).

I am using windows vista business, RAM 4 GB.

I want to add more information that the installation was done by clicking "Download Express software to my computer...". Then I choose Framework Manager.

Thanks for your help info.

Hi,

According to the supported environments page for Express 9.0, Windows Vista is not a supported platform for Express Framework Manager (only Windows Server 2003 SP2 and Windows XP Professional SP2), plus Firefox 9.01 is not a supported browser either (just 3.0).

The environments page is here:

Do you get similar errors with Firefox 3.0 on XP Professional?

Helo,

Thanks for your information and the link.

The cognos express 9.0 itself has been installed successfully on Windows Vista (SP2) (I am using laptop running with Windows Vista powered with 4 GB RAM).

Or, is it about Java Virtual Machine?

Any comments?

Thank you.

Express Is not supported on Windows Vista. Period. If you managed to get it to run in that environment, consider yourself very lucky. I would suggest that the issues you are seeing here are likely due to incompatabilities because of this, though.
