Title: Process question
Post by: Teamkenji on 28 Jan 2012 09:50:00 AM
Hi.

I have a model that has a regularly changing e.List.
I intend on running the following processes individually in the following order.

1. Update D-Lists (Analyst ODBC)
2. Synchronize (Admin Macro)
3. Upload new e.List (Admin Macro)
4. Version control Admin link (Admin Macro Targeting Development)
5. CLP (Load Actuals Admin Macro)
6. GTP

I'm looking to minimise the number of GTP's and reconciles due to the sheer length of my e.List.

Just looking to get another's input into my process heavy approach.

Cheers

I am curious about the regularly changing elist.  Any time you make changes to the elist, you run the risk of losing data.  Are you trying to preserve any data in the Contributor application between changes?  Is that being done in Planning or somewhere else?  I would think you would at least need to publish out the current data in Contributor so that you can bring it back into the application after making the elist changes.  This would likely require some sort of ETL or mapping to marry the old elist hierarchy with the new hierarchy.

Hi, Yes am running Regular published into BI. The changing elist involves  "Planner" elist items dropping off and others being added. The Overall  parent hierarchy does not change.

Looks valid, although I'd test 4) & 5) without a GTP in between, you might need to set up 5) import not clearing import tables.
