I'm currently having a very weird issue with the access rights of a Cognos 8.BI user.
This user has a login for almost 1 year now. Until now, he was able to connect to the web portal, access the cubes, make reports without any problem. But recently, he is not anymore able to execute reports(based on different relational models) from Report Studio or Query Studio. There is an error message of access right to the datasource, asking to re-enter login+password. If he enters again login+password, it doesn't change anything.
however :
1) this user has still access to the cubes.
2) this user has access to the datasource when using Excel as interface for example.
3) there has been no recent change on the user access rights policy. This user has always had extended rights, which work well for the others users.
Since this seems not to be a basic problem of access rights to database(the access is clear through excel), the heart of the issue seems to be in Cognos. We've tried to delete&recreate the user account, but it failed. Hotline is helpless so far.
Any thoughts from experience?

Just a hunch: Check the access permissions to the datasource connections' sign on.
finally the problem is that Cognos users cannot have accents in their password..
