Title: Cube Xtab Issue
Post by: wyconian on 19 Mar 2012 12:53:32 PM
Hi can anyone help me out with this?

I've got a report based on a cube.  The report has a query which is used to populate a number of cascading prompts.  The promprt query has members from different dimensions.  I want to just show the +relevant members in the prompts based on the cascade but I'm getting all members coming back where they come from different dimensions

For example the the prompt query has Ledger and Division.  These come from different dimensions in the cube.  When the user selects a ledger I want them to only see the divisions that are associated with that ledger but all dimensions are coming back.

I tried adding a measure to the prompt query thinking this would reenforce the relationship between the ledger and the division so I could filter out combinations where the measure was null but that didn't work.

Any ideas on how I can get this to work?

Thanks for taking the time to look at this :)

First of all the cascading source of a prompt should be in same dimension as of the Prompt parameter value. If you are using the same dimension and more than two prompts(cascading) then try using the filters for the first and last prompt.. It should work...

Thanks for the reply.  I need to have the cascades based on different dimensions.

I've resolved this by changing the properties of levels in the cube to only be included when needed and changing the bkank substitution for one of the measures to be blank (rather than zero).

I added null suppression to the prompt query and a filter on measure is not null.  That seems to have sorted everything although it has screwed up the MUNs.  Guess I need to start hacking the xml lol
