Yes. You can run the report to output to either of your choice. You will need to first define decide if you want one to default in aside from the standard HTML.

In Report Studio, select run from the menu bar and choose what output type you would like.

Hope this helps.

You only need to have Acrobat Reader and/or Excel installed locally if you want to view the saved output. They do not need to be on the server either unless you want to view outputs directly from there. Cognos will render the PDF/mht regardless of whether the client required to view the output is installed.

MF.

I wasnt refering to viewing saved outputs. I meant when i run a report and upon its execution i want to see it in pdf or excel. In such a scenario where should i have the product installed

Hi,

In the case of PDF if you want to see it when run interactively then you will need Adobe Reader installed locally otherwise Cognos will prompt you to save it locally.

With Excel, as the file format is normally mht then this should open on your browser without an Excel installation.

Just as an aside, PDF and Excel are still saved content as they will be stored temporarily in the content store even if you are viewing them interactively.

Thanks Rob.

So for excel the installation needs to be on the server or we dont need it installed anywhere as its mht format?
