Title: db client to db communications (UDA layer) Delay

   Recently I am looking into Cognos report performance issue in our department. IBM Support found out that Cognos db client to db communications (UDA layer) has delay, it took about ~30 seconds to establish the connection, the SQL that I tested only took 5 to 8 seconds to complete. Report overall only took 35 to 40 seconds. I am wondering if there are anything I can tune to enhance connection establishment to DB. Thanks

Try the same connection outside of cognos using a different application on the same machine. Same issue?
Could be any number of reasons outside cognos. Network, server is busy, solar flare...anything!

We don't see any issues outside the Cognos. Our Database is in Oracle RAC, it looks like there are some scanning delay while establish connections. But I am not sure.
