Post by: sandeeppenmetsa246 on 10 May 2012 01:05:47 PM
It is said that by default, user accessibility feature for a particular user is set to false. how to enable this feature to true for that particular user. What is the use of enabling it to true? Any help please. Thanx in advance

In Cognos 10 it's fairly simple:

Under "My Area Options" select "My Preferences".

On General tab check box for "Enable accessibility support for reports I run or schedule"

IBM has the following to say on the subject from this link for Cognos 10:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/cbi/v10r1m0/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.swg.im.cognos.ug_cra.10.1.0.doc%2Fug_cra_id24794cc_enable_accessible_reports.html

"Accessible reports contain features, such as alternate text, that allow users with disabilities to access report content using assistive technologies, such as screen readers. "

For Cognos 8.4 FP2 the process is slightly different, and only relates to .pdf output:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/c8bi/v8r4m0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.swg.im.cognos.rdm_cr_updates.8.4.0.doc/rdm_cr_updates_id255AccessibilityPDFReports.html

The article for C8 notes considerations around increase in file size and impact on system performance that may result from enabling accessibility, so should be taken into account.  It's also an environment-wide change, not just per user.   Seems like Cognos 10 is a marked improvement on Cognos 8 in this respect.

There's a whole lot more useful info there too around different options available to users for setting this up.

Hope that helps!
