Hi guys,
Been looking online for quite some time regarding an issue which happens when we are trying to do quick exports from the contributor application in version 10.1. This was working fine up until we upgrade the Microsoft Office version to 2010. Can anyone confirm that quick export indeed should function with Cognos 10.1 and Office 2010?
See errormessage displayed below. I found just one suggested cause for this which seems to be related to a maximum 32 character sheet name in excel, however I don't think this is what's causing the error here since it doesnt matter which application/cube/view we're trying to export - all of them causes the error.
"There was an internal application problem. Try to save your work and exit the application.
Check console for complete stack trace.
com.cognos.ccl4j.exceptions.CCLRuntimeException (root java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException):
'java.lang.UnsuppoertedOperationException'
.....
.....
....."
Any ideas?
Thanks!
BR
Jakob
Update:
It seems that 10.1 is NOT compatible with Excel 2010 but 10.1.1 is. Since we currently have 10.1 installed this might explain the error. Before I go ahead and try to convince the IT-department to upgrade, can anyone confirm that the quick export from 10.1.1 does indeed work with Office 2010?

Hey Jakob,
It should work and I have tested a quick export of one of the sample applications, however, this may not prove the same for you and your specific application(s). I will mention now that you will want to make sure you're using a 32b version of Excel 2010.
Cheers,
Thanks for your answer ericlfg.
Actually it appears that the export to excel 2010 is working for some of our users which leads me to believe that Cognos isn't the root cause here. (All of them are using 32-bit version of Office so it's most likely something else).
Interesting that the export works with 10.1 even though it isn't listed as supported by IBM until 10.1.1.
Hopefully I'll be back with the final solution soon :)

Hey Jakob,
It's very likely that the software that isn't listed on the support site will work, it's just not formally supported since it wouldn't be tested.
If the export works for some users and not others, I would take a non-functional user and have them try to export the same view configuration (same rows, columns, context, and any nested dimension selections) of a user that does work. This would just rule out if it's something specific to an application, and possibly a specific selection of dimension items.
Hi,
For future reference, the issue was caused by an Excel add-in; "Oracle Excel Add-In for Essbase". Once the users removed this add-in, the export started to work again.
