1. Create a blank report
2. Drag and drop a crosstab into the report
3. Drag and drop a dimension / field into the rows
4. Drag and drop a dimension / field into the columns
5. Drag and drop a measure into the measures area
6. Run the report

I don't think what you're asking for is possible in report studio (I'm sure someone else will update this if it is possible). I'd suggest creating the report in Analysis Studio so that the user can then dynamically change the fields in the report.

I'd suggest Cognos Workspace Advanced rather than Analysis Studio. This is where IBM seem to be investing their development efforts.

Just sticking my oar in! ;)

Do you see Business Insight Advanced? This was the prior name of Cognos Workspace Advanced.

Hi - I've done a bit of googling and it looks like Rational Insight is a different product to Cognos BI. There are bound to be similarities, but it's not a product I've used I'm afraid. There might be another forum section in Cognoise for it...but again I wouldn't know. Others on here might be able to help, but I'd try posting in another forum if I was you.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

That's a bit like saying "Can you tell me how to write a complex document". It could mean a vast number of things. What is it you are trying to do?

As far as I'm aware it's Cognos 10.1 BI server with restricted licenses. It's the exact same technology I think.

That's interesting...might be an option for us to roll out Cognos to a wider audience, especially if the licensing is cheaper.

Hi,

Business Insight Advanced is designed to be an end-user tool for people with little or no technical experience. The whole idea is that creating things is a simple drag-and-drop experience.

Choose the option to create a new report
Select "Crosstab" from the list of templates
Drag in the desired data items from the contents pane on the right

Simple :)
