Title: Installiing Cognos for Microsoft Excel
Post by: danii64 on 12 Mar 2014 12:57:08 PM
Hi All,

Im trying to install Cognos Analysis for MS Excel locally on my machine but I'm getting a warning that I'm "installing to the same location as a previous installation.  And, if i want to continue?" I already have the Cognos for MS Office installed in that location, and would like to keep that as well. It's not allowing me to change the location or rename the file name. It says somewhere that these two are separate installs, yet they have the same directory name and location.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance!

If you already have Cognos for MS Office installed, the Cognos Analysis for Excel install goes into the same install folder - this is expected behaviour. Just click OK to the warning and go ahead. The two co-exist quite happily :)

I actually did that already, when i installed the Cognos analysis for MS Excel over the existing cognos for  MS office, it actually replaced it. however, when i re stalled the cognos for MS Office, it worked as i had hopped; keeping the Analysis for MS excel and the cognos for MS Office.

Not sure why it didn't work the first time.
