Title: Cyrillic characters on Transformer 10.1/10.2
Post by: rsousa on 12 Jun 2014 03:56:07 AM
Hi everyone!

I would like to present the following question that I'm trying go get an answer to.

We have a cognos environment, where the local cognos server is located in US. It was proposed if the cubes that we already have, can support cyrillic characters.

After some research, I tried to test it myself. Created a simple table with two entries, being a row composed by an ID and a description, being the description in Russian. Pushed the data to FM, and published it to a package that is being used as a datasource on one of the cubes that we use. On FM, the Russian characters were retrieved.

On transformer, when I query the data, the value for the description is "?? ????".

So my question is: is it possible to have this cyrillic characters only by chaning the local language settings? Or a new server should be created so we could have this information?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

We faced the same problem with Bulgarian language. Cognos Transformer seems do not support UTF-16.
After we changed Windows settings for non-unicode programs to Bulgarian language, we had still some strange characters in Transformer - but different from ??. After we built the cube, everything was OK in Analysis Studio or Report Studio. For non-unicode programs setting you have to do change in Region and Language > Administrative > Language for non-Unicode programs (via Windows Control Panel). No more  is needed nor on the server.

Btw, we are looking for more efficient way how to solve it.

Cheers,
