Title: Can Cognos Impromptu 6.x and Cognos Series 7.X be installed on Win. 2003 server?
Post by: danii64 on 30 Dec 2014 08:30:39 AM
Hi All,

I have question regarding the installation of  Cognos Impromptu 6.x and Cognos Series 7.X on Windows server 2003?

and if it can be done and are there any known issues that i need to be aware of?

Currently we have both of these environments on windows server 2000. as the service contract on them is ending we're thinking of getting Windows 2003 server setup until we have windows 2014 server live.

Thank you!

Hi,

I think Impromptu 6 is so old it will likely not run on Windows Server 2003. If you have the 7.5 version, this ought to be ok, though:

What exactly do you mean by "Cognos Series 7.X"? What version of 7? What components? One "gotcha" to be aware of is if you are using Sun One Directory Server as your LDAP provider for Cognos 7 Access Manager. It will (I think) install ok on Windows Server 2003 but not on any of the later Windows Server versions.

Cheers!
