I'm working on a report project in Report Studio where I need to summarize and make totals of a non-numeric column. How do I do that? The column in question is a "Category" with alphanumeric text and data in it. I need to summarize and total each Category. I have them grouped correctly in Report Studio, but I can't get them to total up for each one. I try to click Summarize but the "Total" option is grayed-out.
I think I got it to work - or at least very close. By playing around with the list of footers, adding a count of the Category to the middle list footers, and then adding at TOTAL summary to the bottom-most footer of the report
