Title: Cascading dropdown
Post by: ToriBurns on 27 Jan 2016 09:08:28 PM
Good day Gurus!

I was working with an application in planning where I need a cascading dropdownlist. We are using Cognos EP version 10 and I'm wondering if there is a way to do this? The dimensions are set under context. The selected item or value on the first dropdown would be based on the selected item on the second dropdown. Is this achievable? Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks and kind regards,
Tori

Hello

You cannot do cascading drop downs in Cognos Planning.  You can in TM1.

You could try and use access tables in Contributor which could hide/show D-List items, e.g. Column A (drop Down A), Column B (drop Down B).  This could be varied by elist, or Cube, or master assumption value in a d-list item input in a cube in Cognos Analyst which drives certain access table generation which are then loaded to contributor.

In summary no you cant, but you could try a crude alternative.
