Title: How to add portlets to a group
Post by: erics on 21 Apr 2016 10:12:36 AM
Hi There,
I've created a new portlet or portal tab and been asked to deploy it to a new group of users.
I know that we can't add add these tabs to existing users without purchasing new addon software. However, is there a way of making it so that new users who are part of this particular group going forward have these tabs?

Thanks,
Eric

Hi,

Happily, that's not true. If you have Admin privileges, you can go into the Administration console, Security tab, navigate into the namespace of your security provider (so you can see the users), then click on "More" alongside a user and choose the "Set portal tabs" option. You can also copy this to other users too.  In that same "More" menu, there is an option called "Copy this user's profile". You can do this, choose what part or parts to copy, and choose the target user.

Not quite - but you can set a default user profile that is used for any new user. Still in the Security tab, select your Cognos namespace, and in the top right corner is a button titled "Edit Default User Profile". You can define your desired portal tabs etc here.

Cheers!
