Title: Adding a new Dimension
Post by: chewza on 08 May 2016 12:29:57 AM
Hi there

I have added a new dimension to my transformer model, and none of our existing reports work against the new cube.
Is there any way around this? I can understand that deleting a dimension would cause issues, but was hoping that adding a new one would not cause issues......

Many thanks!!!

Regards
Chris

Was it Miss Scarlet in the drawing room with a candlestick?

Difficult to offer suggestions without any detail beyond the fact that reports don't work. Why not share any error messages, if any. Or perhaps share examples that illustrate incorrect results vs. previously correct results. Any clue at all would be welcome.

If I had to make a totally wild guess I'd suggest that perhaps the MUNs in existing dimensions have perhaps changed. If you have MUNs with ~ characters these are generated to resolve uniqueness issues and can vary as things change, causing reports to break. The link below explains how to model so as to avoid this situation, making your cube more durable.

Again, this is a total guess because you haven't given very much information so difficult to offer much beyond solutions to common problems.

Yeah, I doubt it has anything to do with the new dimension added.

Something else has changed... Data changes resulting in missing MUN's (i.e. categories in your dimensions) or existing MUN's being changed is a good place to start looking...
