Title: Question about gateway
Post by: Eag. E on 21 Jun 2016 05:05:04 AM
Hi,

I have got two Cognos instance in two servers (A and B), both my A and B have:
- gateway
- ATC
- content manager

This is a linux installation, my A server works fine, the gateway is on Apache2.2.
My question is: could I just copy Apache folder from A to B (/usr/local/Apache2), because I saw httpd.conf should be the same. I am not allowed to install ApacheHttpServer in server2.

Thanks

I do not think it will work properly. Files should be copied through installer only.

Hi,

If server B doesn't have a web server running on it, there's no point having the gateway component on that server. The gateway is simply there as a route from the web server to the driving dispatcher within the Cognos architecture, so having no web server makes it redundant.

Cheers!

MF.

Hi

Thanks for your reply. I will have webserver on ServerB, but I just can not "install" it. I could copy files to my ServerB. But I can not install httpserver from source.

In another words, I can not do "make" or "make install" for my Apache httpserver. So I am thinking if it is possible to just "copy" files from SeverA (/usr/local/Apache2) to my ServerB

you cannot just copy werbserver files, you need to install webserver.
It's not plug and play.

That is what I am afraid of .
By the way, will IHS be a plug and play?

Thanks

NO IHS needs to be installed in the system as well.
If you can't really install a webserver on your machine, then why don't you resort for a distributed
instance where your gateway will be installed to another server (where you can install).

cheers!
