I just did a distributed install at a client site : all cognos BI components on Server 1, CM, dispatcher & App Tier components on Server 2. In order to test failover, I would like to stop CM, dispatcher & App services on Server1 but leave Gateway running. There is no Gateway service explicitly listed anywhere.. Looked under Server Administration in Cognos Connection as well as Services list in Cognos Configuration.. Where should I be looking?
There's no gateway "service" to start/stop. The CM and app tier use (by default) the embedded Tomcat application server which is what you're stopping/starting. No need to do this with a gateway tier.
Why not install the gateway on server 2 also for full redundancy?
(well, passive redundancy that is as the gateway does not have an automated faillover, but it´s as good as it get´s)
