Has anyone ever bursted and or scheduled reports to export to a LAN location rather than a Cognos Connection directory?
I first thought that I might be able to find the saved reports on the cognos app server and then write a batch file to send those reports out to a LAN directory. But in my digging it seems that Cognos is still holding the specs and data of even saved reports with in the content store.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!
I have been told by a Cognos trainer that a java script would probably be the best solution and in 8.3 the option too save to network is made available.
Let me know if you find a solution.
In Cognos 8.3 you can output reports to the directory (LAN). The Administrator has to setup the option and the root folder location, but once that is done you can store any report output (any format {PDF, Excel, etc...}, any data source, etc...) to the LAN location. You can even do your bursting as well.
This is nice since you won't have to develop anything at all.
Yes, this has been possible for a view few iterations of Cognos 8 now.
Search on Cognos KB produces this article which explains it all:

A view iterations? I think that thin mountain air's getting to you, rockytop...
