Title: Java Version
Post by: ghostraider on 21 May 2008 11:44:35 AM
Hi All,

I have a Cognos 8.2 deployment on Solaris. The JRE version is 1.4.2 and using this i have set up Auditing. My issue is, our LAN support people want to upgrade the Java Version from 1.4 to 1.5 on our local desktops. I have checked on Cognos Support site and it says 1.5 is compatible with Solaris and Windows OS. What effects will i have if the Java version is upgraded either on the Server or on my desktop. Please let me know.

Thanks!!

Upgrade of your desktop to 1.5 will have no effect. When upgrading the server you will have to export your configuration file, update your environment variables, than re-save the decrypted config file. (don't forget to copy the COGNOS and DB JAR files to your new JRE)
