Title: Content Store 'IBM Cognos Content Database'
Post by: globalbear on 06 May 2009 05:56:29 AM
Normally I use SQL server for my content store database, but some other options are availible in Cognos Configuration. Cognos own database is one of the options.

Have anyone experience in using that? Do I need to setup a Cognos database somehow or is it some sort of file database?

I want to create a virtual machine (vmware or MS) with cognos for demo purposes. I have had difficulties with installing sql server on the virtual machine - the machine runs extremely slow. Now I want to test setting up a virtual machine with only windows and cognos and use the sql server on my physical machine to speed up performance.

One of the steps I have come across is where to put my content store. Then I came up with the idea of using Cognos built-in database. Problem is, I don't know how to do that.

How do I setup Cognos built-in database to use as content store?

During the installation of Cognos 8 BI server, that apache derby database is the forth option.
Configuration is automated, just tick the box during install.

Thanks smiley,

I found that option myself eventually. Works fine.
