Title: Row Level SQl Server DB Security with Active Directory SSO
Post by: Birdie on 30 Jun 2009 11:46:53 AM
Hi-

Is anyone aware of a way to implement security on a connection (Cognos 8.3) without having the connection prompt the user each time a query is executed?

Essentially, I have a need to only allow certain users to view all data in the database and others to see limited data. The security is set in the database to prohibit data access based on specified log on credentials. Our Cognos environment uses Active Directory.

When I set up a connection based on prompting the user for credentials, it doesn't seem to store their credentials during their session, but rather prompts every single time they run or modify a query.

Can anyone help?

Thanks so much!
