We have just implenated a cognos solution ver 8.3. We have developed our first reporting package based on modeled data and produced 2 cubes on this framework mmanager package.
I have been put in charge of developing our cognos environmrnt for everything from modelling data, profducing cubes and reporting data, training of staff, expaninding the cognos enviornment, producing reports at first. As we expand this solution i will be more ina management role for cognos.
Just wondering if some experienced cognos mind can provide some sort of direction i should follow. What should i concentrate on and what i should do to move this solution forward.
Any documnets or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I would start by setting up a BI Competency Center and deciding where that is going to live (IT, the business users, other?). In general, you will want to get in front of the business users and find out what their main paine points are. If they are having trouble getting visibibility into their financials, start there, etc. I would also start checking this forum periodically to see what others are doing.

You should also begin gathering information about where data lives. Is there a datawarehouse in place? If not, is there a newed to build one? Ultimately, you need to let your end-users drive the requirements for any reporting, or you will end up having to redo a lot of work.
