I have a vm with Cognos 8.4 and TM1 installed and configured. I can connect to a sample TM1 server via Excel(perspectives) and pull back forms and data. However, when I attempt to create a datasource connection to that same TM1 server in Cognos 8, I get the error below:
TM1-ERR-0050 An attempt to initialize the TM1 API failed. The TM1 error
code is 502. The TM1 error message is "Could not load tm1api.dll due
to: The specified module could not be found. ".
I do have the TM1 client installed as well and this is the obly real requirement I can find inthe admin guide in terms of connecting to TM1 from Cognos 8.
Any help would b appreciated.
Has C:\Program Files\Cognos\TM1\bin been added to the system Path variable?
Yes I added the TM1\bin directory to the PATH.
I believe the TM1_PATH system variable should point to C:\Program Files\cognos\c8\bin - ie your Cognos 8.4 install rather than your TM1 install.

An update to this post ... just worked through this same issue. Updating the path was not sufficient in our case. We also had to install the TM1 clients from the 32-bit TM1 CD. We got IBM to add an enhancement request to have these DLL's laid down as part of the C8 BI installation.
